 PAGASA Weather Update: Bagyong Dindo

 

 Bagyong Dindo’ is the next tropical storm due in the country. ‘Bagyong Dindo’ is still an active low pressure area (ALPA) east of Samar at present but weather forecasters expect it to intensify in the next 24-72 hours into a tropical storm. It may further develop into a typhoon. The ALPA is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) today or tomorrow. However, it is already bringing rains in many parts of the country, particularly to Luzon and Visayas.

PAGASA announced yesterday that there's an active LPA in Eastern Samar, which might possibly becomes a Typhoon within the next one to two days and according to PAGASA the Typhoon will be codenamed Bagyong Dindo.

According to PAGASA as at  2:00 pm yesterday, the Active Low Pressure Area (ALPA) was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 890 km east of Borongan, Eastern Samar (11.9°N, 134.5°E).

State weather bureau PAGASA said that today, June 26, the ALPA was last spotted 750 kilometers east northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, and moving at a northwesterly direction.

PAGASA expect the ALPA to become a storm in the next 36 hours, and is forecast to target Luzon. It will be given the codename Dindo.

"Pagka naging bagyo siya, kapag lumapit na iyon, tiyak may (public storm warning) signal sa malapit na lugar (If it becomes a storm and goes near land, the areas will have a public storm warning signal)," forecaster Buddy Javier said.

Meanwhile, southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

The rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy, PAGASA said, with isolated rains and thunderstorms.

Prevailing winds over Northern and Central Luzon will come from the southwest to south, while Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience winds coming from the southwest to west, the bureau said.

Metro Manila will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, and will experience temperatures between 25-31 degrees Celsius.
