Forbes Highest Paid Athletes 2012

Forbes 2012 Highest Paid Athletes

The world's highest-paid athlete is in jail. The guy in second place just lost a title fight, and the man who held the distinction for a decade is now third.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are the two highest paid athletes in the world in 2012, making more than golf superstar Tiger Woods and NBA Most Valuable Player LeBron James.

According to the report, Mayweather had earned $85 million from his two most recent fights alone. He won against Vicor Ortiz in September 2012 and beat Miguel Cotto in May. The report revealed that Pacquiao is second on the list, earning $62 million in 2012.

Tiger Woods, No. 1 on the list since 2001, made $59.4 million to place third.

Although boxers Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao dominate at the top with how much money they reel in combined from salary and endorsements, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, at 10th overall ($42.4 million) is first among the 30 NFL players ranked.
