The Return of the Boyband - One Direction

After Justin Bieber and the Jonas Brothers had their 15 minutes of fame, is this “new” boy band, One Direction,  must be the “next big thing" which has over 118 million YouTube views?

One Direction

One Direction is a British-Irish group made up of  oddly named thin and coiffed young men: Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.

The song “What Makes You Beautiful” went to no. 1 in the UK and did well in other countries. But the real test for success is their debut album "Up All Night" which debuted no. 1 in America.

Their debut CD, "Up All Night," sold to the tune of 176,000 copies in its first week, a feat that no British band had ever achieved before, not even such icons as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, the Who, the Bee Gees, the Sex Pistols, Oasis or Radiohead. . The album was released November 2011 in Ireland and the United Kingdom through Syco Records. The album was released in North America on 13 March 2012 through Columbia Records.

Up All Night: The Souvineer Edition has gone double platinum in Australia and holds the top spot on the ARIA Album Chart for the fourth week running.
