The residents of Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City were surprised as they experience hailstorm on Friday.
The residents said hailstones the size of corn kernels fell on their homes at around 3 p.m. and lasted for around 10 minutes.
“Natakot kami kasi biglang bumagsak sa bubong,” said Hilda Fortuna, one of the residents.
While the adults expressed alarm over the occurrence, the children of
Barangay Holy Spirit took to the streets and played with the small
pieces of ice.
The residents said they also experienced a hailstorm last year.
According to PAGASA, even though some parts of Southern Metro Manila and Central Luzon experienced rain, it doesn’t signify the beginning of the rainy season.
The rain was believed to have been due the diffused tail-end of a cold front. PAG-ASA said the rainy season will officially begin on May.
According to the weather forecaster Cris Perez:
“Ang diffused tail-end of the cold front, ito ang pagsasanib ng
malamig at mainit na hangin. ‘Yung pinaka-boundary ng front ay posibleng
magdulot ng thunderstorm o ‘yung mga pag-ulan. Maaaring may mga
moderate to heavy rains, pagkulog at pagkidlat at maaari din itong
magdulot ng pag-ulan ng yelo,”
