Xian Lim Releases Debut Album "It's You"

From being one of the country’s hottest actors, a basketball player and model, Xian Lim is splashing his name in the world of music.

After winning the hearts of primetime TV viewers in the drama series “My Binondo Girl” with Kim Chiu; enchanting ladies with his magazine covers and TV commercials; and proving his hosting skills in the recently held Bb. Pilipinas, Xian Lim is now a certified recording artist and  ready to prove his talent in singing. Today, April 30, 2012, Star Records released his debut album "So It's You".

Under Star Records, “So It’s You” features five tracks including its carrier single “Puso Kong Hibang,” which is Xian’s original composition. Completing the tracklist are the “My Binondo Girl” theme song “Ako’y Sa’yo Lamang,” and Xian’s revivals of OPM hit songs “So It’s You,” “Reaching Out” and “Oh Babe.”

Lim has been vocal about his ambition to become a singer. “I want to get into music but siyempre ‘yung acting is always gonna be there,” Lim has said.

Tommy Marth of "The Killers" Commit Suicide

     Tommy Marth, 33-year old saxophonist for The Killers was found dead at his Las Vegas home last Monday morning April 23, 2012.

     Marth was thought to have committed suicide, found with a gunshot wound to the head that forensics has determined was self-inflicted.

     Marth toured with the band for more that half a decade and went on to perform on the group's second and third albums, Sam's Town and Day and Age. He also played on albums by The Big Friendly Corporation and Black Camaro and served in Halloween Town's live line-up for a time. 

     The reason behind his suicide is still uncleared.

Pregnant With 9 Babies, Is Is True Or Not?!

Karla Vanessa Perez, a woman from the northeastern state of Coahuila, Mexico is reportedly pregnant with nine babies - six girls and three boys.

One of the most unbelievable pregnancy claims has been confirmed as a hoax. Karla Vanessa Perez told a major Mexican news station she was pregnant with nine kids.

Mexico's main broadcaster Televisa broke the story of the 32-year-old mother's record-breaking multiple pregnancy Thursday, and major news outlets around the world picked it up overnight. Gawker already has a tabloid-ready nickname for her: "Nonomom."

But by end of day Friday, the local newspaper in Perez's Mexican town challenged her claims. According to a reporter from El Diario de Coahuila who spoke with Perez's mother, she is not pregnant at all. A Telemundo reporter also claimed to have evidence that Perez is lying, according to MSNBC. 

Bacolod Masskara: 6th Grandchampion of "Its Showtime"

Sweeping 10 judges’ score cards with perfect 10 scores, dance group Bacolod Masskara was declared the grand champion of the fifth season of the ABS-CBN noontime variety program “It’s Showtime" on Saturday, April 28.

Bacolod Masskara, the representative of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental in the “Inter-Town” competition of “Showtime,” earned a cash prize of P3 million after beating Amazing Paper Dolls, Tiklad, Infinite Reform, Lahing Anda, Dumaguete’s Pride and Next Level Octomix,.

A third of the winnings will be given to Bacolod City, while P2 million will be awarded to the performing group.

“Madlang people” and “hurados” alike were roused to their feet as the group kicked the spectacle into high gear, with giant masked figures emerging from the audience, and a confetti-showering helicopter joining the troop of dancers in Bacolod City.

Bacolod Masskara is the sixth grand champion of “It’s Showtime,” following triumphs of XB Gensan (Season 1), Laoag City Gymnastics Group (Season 2), True Colors (Season 3), Astig Pinoy (Season 4), and CCP Bobcats (Campus Clash Edition).

Afghan Double Amputee for 2012 Paralympic Games

Malek Mohammad, an 18-year-old double amputee of Kabul, Afghanistan, has already overcome so many challenges in his young life, some might be tempted to think he requires no assistance whatsoever.

Landmines took his legs at age 11 as he was walking through a field near Kabul's airport.

But adversity has made him wise beyond his years, and Malek knows better. His struggle has been a lonely one.

It was while he was in the hospital that an American visitor noticed Malek and paid for him to go the United States and get prosthetic limbs made.

During his two years recovering there, Malek was encouraged to participate in sports and he learned English. Then he returned to his family in Afghanistan.

Malek's younger brother, Samandar, beams with pride as he watches his brother swim the length of the pool.

"He didn't lose his courage and power. He is very strong, and I am sure that he can take part in any competition. I am sure he will be successful and then the whole world can be proud of him", Samandar said.

At the pool, Malek shows us how athletics turned his life around, using his arms to lift his body off the tiles and then dive into the pool.

Malek don't have any coach or any trainer to teach him how to swim, how to prepare for the games, so he’s doing by himself, because he love swimming.

"I need support, I need help because I'm representing Afghanistan -- especially disabled people," says Malek, who more than anything, wants to swim for his country at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.

Is Labor Day Move to April 30, 2012...?

Many citizens especially the workers are confused if the Labor Day will be moved to April 30, 2012 since it falls to Tuesday.

In the administration of former president, Arroyo, a lot of regular and special non-working holidays were moved to either Monday or Friday in observance of Holiday Economics Law. But with the new administration, we haven't observed this relief yet.

Based on the list of Philippines' official public holidays this year, April 30, 2012 is a normal working as outlined in Proclamation No. 295 and the Labor Day should be celebrate on its exact date, which is on May 1, 2012.

Jessica Sanchez: American Idol Season 11 Top 5

A 16-year old Filipino-Mexican American Singer Jessica Sanchez made her way to top 5 of American Idol Season 11.

     Jessica Sanchez survived this week's elimination of American Idol (AI) Season 11.

Sanchez is now in AI's Top 5 and will be part of the show's Disney tour.

     Other finalists include Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips, Skylar Laine and Hollie Cavanagh.

   Sanchez earned restrained praise for singing the Queen song “Bohemian Rhapsody” but bounced back with a stunning performance of Luther Vandross' “Dance With My Father”.

Elise Testone didn’t made her way to the Top 5 of American Idol Season 11.

58 million votes came in and the Idol hopefuls who gathered the lowest votes based on last night's performances will join the Bottom 3 and might not have the chance to continue their "Idol" journey. Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and Phillip Phillips are the safe performers while Elise Testone, Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine are the bottom 3.

Elise Testone was the fourth performer last night and the judges thought she was in her element. They even said that the song “I Want It All” was so right for her. Like Skylar, Randy said that was one of her best performances to date. But he said otherwise on her second performance. He said that her second song “Bold as Love” wasn’t the right song choice. Phillip Phillips was up next and Steven said he loves watching him run out of breath and said it was a great song choice. Any opinions on this? Randy said he is a true artist after singing his song choice.

Skylar and Phillip were the last two to learn their results. Jimmy thought Skylar did a very good job on her first song, but the second song was self-indulgent. He commented on Phillip lacking energy due to being ill throughout the week, and he didn’t think Phillip made a good choice in singing a Dave Matthews Band song. Ryan told Skylar she was the final person in the bottom three, while Phillip was safe. He called Hollie and Elise over and immediately sent Skylar back to the couches.

Finally, after plenty of time spent in the bottom, Ryan revealed that it was finally Elise’s turn to go home. She ended the show singing Led Zeppelin.

Jonathan Aquino a 30-year-old Filipino Nurse in Kentish Town, North London was caught on video by Jane Worrol, daughter of his patient Maria, attacking her elderly Alzheimer’s sufferer mother.

Worroll assumed Aquino to be a nice guy but she keeps on wondering why her elderly mother was having trouble sleeping. Why fingermarks keep appearing on her upper arms and why had she started moaning. So she investigates and hid a camera in her bedroom

In the harrowing images, Aquino is seen to suddenly strike the retired school canteen manager in the face before slapping her arms repeatedly then finishes the attack by hitting Mrs Worroll in her abdomen four times..

Sentencing Aquino to 18 months in jail, Judge Henry Blacksell QC told the nurse he was guilty of a ‘dreadful breach of trust’...

People Magazine has named Beyonce as the World's Most Beautiful Woman for 2012.

30-year-old Grammy-award winning singer Beyonce was named People Magazine's World's Most Beautiful Woman for 2012 - and that's barely 4 months after she gave birth to her first child Blue Ivy Carter with rapper husband Jay-Z.

"I feel more beautiful than I've ever felt because I've given birth. I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a purpose on this earth," the singer told People.

Britney Spear's Fiance Share Legal Control of Singer

          Britney Spears' fiance and former manager Jason Trawick has the blessing  from Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz to become a co-conservator over the Grammy-winning pop star.

          According to People Magazine, pop star's father Jamie Spears asked a court to make Trawick a co-conservator over his daughter. The move will give her future husband the legal control over the singer's general well being, including food, clothing and medical care but he would not have control of the singer's multimillion-dollar estate or career .

          Britney Spears has been under a court-ordered conservatorship since February 2008, when her father stepped in to take control after she had been hospitalized twice and had a series of incidents involving erratic behavior.

          The conservatorship can be lifted once a judge and Spears' doctors agree that the singer can manage her own affairs.

LET Results 2012

The Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) was given last March 11, 2012 in 12 testing centers all over the Philippines.

The  PRC (Professional Regulation Commission) and the  BPT (Board for Professional Teachers) announces that out of 32,798 examinees, 13,925 or (42.46%) elementary teachers have passed. For Accelerated Teacher Education Program (ATEP), 56 or (18.36%) out of 305 examinees and 7,149 or (24.85%) secondary teachers out of 28,764 examinees.

Pinoy Movie "The Road" Hit No. 1 in iTunes Most Popular Trailers

The trailer for the Yam Laranas horror film “The Road” became no. 1 among the most popular trailers in iTunes  starting 5pm LA time (April 23) or 8am Manila (April 24). “The Road’s” trailer was at the number 1 spot followed by the trailer of “The Avengers.” .

The Road is a 2011 Filipino Psychological-Horror film produced and released by GMA Films and helmed by Yam Laranas with the stars Marvin Agustin, Rhian Ramos, Carmina Villaroel, Derrick Monasterio, Lexi Fernandez, TJ Trinidad, Alden Richards, and Louise delos Reyes.

This latest horror masterpiece from Laranas will also hit US theaters but as is, not adapted but subtitled, believed to be the first ever Filipino movie to have a commercial screening in Northern America. It will be distributed in US and Canada by the Los Angeles-based Freestyle Releasing company and will have a red-carpet gala premiere at the Mann Chinese theater in Los Angeles on May 9 and beginning May 11, it will hit at least 50 theaters in Northern America and in selected theaters in Singapore beginning May 15.
